No.08 Hope & Bloom
 
So here it is, our new scent for spring and summer. We hope you love it. We feel it is a very different scent from the others in the range and has been a popular request.
 
We have chosen the uplifting pure essential oil neroli, which is extracted from the flowers of the bitter orange tree. It’s a rich, floral scent with citrusy overtones, perfect for this time of year when we look forward to feelings of new starts, and hopeful new life as nature comes alive.
 
Not only does neroli evoke feelings of freshness, blossom, blooms and spring, as with all our blends, we choose essential oils based around their properties and how these can affect our moods. With this ‘more than just a scent’ philosophy in mind, neroli is the perfect scent to evoke feelings of hope and brighter days, as it is known for its soothing effect on mood. It is known to help with depression, anxiety, premenstrual and menopausal symptoms. It has also been used in studies around mums in labour, showing that inhaling neroli oil reduced feelings of anxiety and the experience of pain in the first stage of labour. It’s a strong, defined scent, so perfect for filling the house with its lovely aroma.
 
We experimented with many different combinations of essential oils to mix with the neroli and after lots of scent tests, we have chosen to combine this with lemon essential oil. The two complement each other perfectly, with the zesty lemon enhancing the citrus top tones of the neroli, but also balancing out the floral sweetness.  Lemon is also a very uplifting, positive and energising scent, again helping create that feeling of hope and optimism, which we all need now more than ever!
